Portfolio for UX/Product Designer & Project Manager

Overview

I helped Marina, the Head of UX and co-founder of a design agency, build a professional online portfolio on Webflow. This project was about more than just a website; it was about creating a trusted digital hub that would empower her to stand out and attract new corporate opportunities.

Challenge

Marina, a talented UX/product designer and project manager with a background in marketing and business development, is also a busy mom and the co-founder of her own design agency. While she's an expert at building online presences for her clients, she was struggling to find the time and energy to create a portfolio for themselves.

She needed a website that would not only showcase her work but also speak the language of corporate recruiters and hiring managers—something different from her experience as a self-employed agency owner. She knew she needed an expert who truly understood her situation. 

As someone who has been there, building my own successful portfolio that landed me 3 (three) tech interviews, I was the perfect person to help.

Solution

For this custom project, I provided an end-to-end service to implement Marina's multiple projects into a professional online portfolio. I managed the whole process from design strategy and logical content structure, ensuring every element was optimized to impress corporate recruiters. 

The core solution was building a trusted, professional asset designed to guarantee Marina a long-term investment. This fully scalable system was built with a flexible Webflow CMS, making it simple for her to manage content, add new projects, or update existing copy independently.

The Process

My process is all about building a solid foundation to ensure a smooth, worry-free project. It's a structured approach that guarantees a great result.

‍1. Sitemap & Wireframes

I began by creating a sitemap and wireframes. Think of this as the blueprint for the website. It helped to organize the content and plan the navigation, so visitors could find what they needed easily.

2. Professional Design

Once we had the blueprint, I moved to the design phase in Figma. For custom projects, I offer design review iterations to ensure the final design is a perfect fit for your brand. 

For this project, based on two design review iterations and client’s needs, I created 3 (three) different design versions. This gave Marina options and ensured the final design was a perfect fit for her brand.

3. ‍Webflow Development

Having solid experience building Design Systems in Figma, I created a clean and organized system of a style guide and variables. 

A style guide acts as a single source of truth for your entire website, ensuring all design elements are cohesive and easy to manage.

With a powerful Variables feature, I made it simple to update colors and fonts across the entire website from a single place, so your brand will always have a professional and unified look.

I developed the website in Webflow with a flexible CMS (Content Management System), building a total of 9 publicly-viewable pages:

• 2 unique static pages: Home, About
• 1 CMS Collection "Projects"

I built a single, flexible template that automatically created 7 individual project pages based on the client’s content. 

This system is designed for growth and will automatically create a new, perfectly formatted page for every future project she adds, with no extra development work required.

4. Support Videos

To ensure she felt confident managing her new website, I recorded video instructions just for her. These videos make it easier for the client to maintain her website, covering tasks like content updates, adding new sections, and replacing images. They are her personal guide, ensuring she always has the support she needs.
